“There’s nothing out there in the world for you...”
by Jules Saturn inhow would you guys react if or when you were told this phrase by a jw while having a conversation?
another phrase is “this world...” or “this system, like gum will chew you up and when it’s done with you, spit you right back out.”.
one i’ve been personally told was from a convert that had told me “whenever i speak to young ones that want to know if the grass is greener on the other side, i tell them i was a part of it.

It’s like running out of a building on fire and watching people trying to get in while it’s in flames and about to collapse and I question ‘Why are they trying to get in?’”

Explanation please on the change of the term "worldly"
by careful ini've picked up from several replies to posts here that the org has stopped using the term "worldly" as it applies to people.
this must have happened after i left.
would someone be so kind as to explain the "rationale" behind this shift?

The word “worldly” is still being used, but I’ve heard the term “non believer” or “unbeliever” as an attempt to replace “worldly”. Think about it though, if you’re a devout Catholic, you would still be considered a “non believer”

Nicolas King: JW celebrity and example of hypocrisy
by neat blue dog innicolas king frequently sings with the watchtower chorus and had a supporting role in the dvd released at the 2014 convention.
(he's on the bottom row, second from the right.).
but he also is a jazz singer, traveling constantly performing at concerts, casinos, charity events, even a brief appearance on the tonight show.

YPA change of picture
by dozy inanybody got any idea why the cover picture on the young people ask book was changed?
they removed the picture of the boy bottom right & superimposed a different head.
maybe the guy got dfd or maybe it was to change it to an asian guy rather than 2 caucasians?

The First Young People Ask VHS
by Cimarrona indo y'all remember the young people ask tape that came out in the late 90s about "bad association"?
i was a fairly small child with teenage siblings and watched it often (with family and alone cause i thought it was the inside scoop on older kids).
that was back when worldly was still very much so a part of dubspeak (i think they started encouraging people to stop saying it in the mid to late 2000s).

I would watch that vhs tape as a child a lot, definitely brings back A LOT of memories. I saw it recently through an account on YouTube called WatchtowerReviewz and in his videos he pokes fun at these movies that the Society makes.

Blade Runner - the new movie
by days of future passed ini went to see blade runner 2 because i liked the first one.
even tho the first one was i think rated r, i still saw it.
the whole atmosphere of the first one was bizarre and real to itself.. if you don't want to be spoiled, don't read on.. with high hopes, despite hearing that it tanked at the box office (are the critics crazy?

I saw the movie and I thought it was aesthetically beautiful but I did feel lost while watching it, I hadn’t seen the first once so I didn’t really know the significance of Sean Young’s character and all that. I plan on seeing the first one and then watching 2049 again. Definitely loved the film score and the outfits, the feel and look of the movie, just a little lost from not being able to connect the first one with this one
